An idiot, but I'd argue against being dangerous. Incredibly it was perfectly legal up until sometime in the 60's to travel in the caravan, and practice at the time was to  put the kids to bed before setting off!!  :o :o :o

I would think it quite dangerous if all 10 happened to be standing up when it went round a bend.  The suspension on those things isn't exactly adept.

It was utter madness, and we all, I am sure, have seen what can happen to a caravan in an accident!!

I have seen them overturned, on fire, smashed to bits by a lorry as they have no crumple zones (or seat belts)  !!! :o :o :o

Again a right dangerous plonker!!! :o :o :o :o

Absolutely staggering that his common sense didn't make him think it MIGHT be dangerous, let alone illegal..................

However, seeing as it is still perfectly legal to carry up to eight people in a motorhome the size of a LWB transit as long as the passengers have a seat,( and they don't have to wear seatbelts either if the vehicle was manufacturered before 1990), I can see how easy these accidents can and do happen. Even in a caravanette/motorhome, if a couple of people are standing up as it goes around a corner, the results are pronounced weave, and a lean to one side!!

I own a converted 30ft coach with eight seats, ALL with full seatbelts. When I had my last mot test, the tester told me I didn't need to have them, cos it was an "F" reg, but I fail to see why its not law for whatever age vehicle myself.

What a complete idiot that bloke was to put the lives of his complete family on the end of a small 50mm towball held on with only two bolts to the back of his car!!

Bloody madness,  but I suppose he was thinking that  if the cupbaord doors  opened while in transit there wouldnt be a mess once he arrived at his destination  ::) :)

Being serious for a mo tho , dont thes people think of the poor souls that may have to scrap up the bits of people from the road surface if they have an accident >:( >:( >:( >:(

Don't think many people with a knighthood of any sort will have that name, however there might be quite a few from that area with the same surname  ;D
