It's meant to be general advice for motorists now to keep a cheap n cheerful digital camera (or just use your cameraphone, of course) to get evidence for such 'crimes'. Same goes for poorly maintained double yeller lines etc.

this is up there with doing 34 in a 30, really isn't it? Chuffin stupid to get booked for it, but then again no, I shouldnt have been speeding, v sorry etc.... the rant, I mean debate goes on!!

Oh dear! ::) ::) ::)  (noting the news item is in the Online Mail, but.......)  This situation obviously should never have been taken so far, costing no doubt a lot of money, whilst tying up precious resource.  The CPS will no doubt review this case and reach the obvious conclusions that it was badly handled.

A prime case of an ex-senior copper thinking, and maybe having, undue power over serving police officers! ::) ::)

I more than agree Lizzie, the attending officers should have their arses kicked.

Perhaps when the council paint the lines for their car park they could allow for the fact cars are getting bigger and bigger.  New Corsa's look the size of an old Astra.  New Fiesta is heading towards a Focus.  New Ka looks bigger than the old Fiestas.

I've got a problem with planning permission in that I want to be able to extend my house, but the council insist that if I end up with 4 bedrooms I must be able to park three cars off the road.  My drive will end up being long enough to put my S-Type and Corsa nose to tail and not stick out onto the pavement.  I'll have a garage as well, but I'm not allowed to count that because it's 6 inches too narrow, even though I'd easily be able to park the Corsa in it.  If I was looking at a new build and saw a 'garage' listed I'd expect to conned.

Whilst I agree with you, my neighbour in this instance was parked in the outside bay nearest the road, and was slightly over the line marking the bay because
the person in the next bay was encroaching  into the bay he was parking in.
The point surely is that the wardens look for any minor infrigement to dish out penalty notices.
The problem I see is who parked badly first your neighbour or the other guy and how does the warden tell? It's not that I don't sympathise but it rates as a pet hate, especially in Asda's car park, how is it I can put my mig dead centre between two lines yet the Corsa next to me is hugging or straddling the line.

I had a very similar experience with a neighbour many years back, he had 2 cars parked on the road and I came in late and parked as close as possible while not blocking his dropped kerb. Following morning I have a warning notice on my car from the council telling me I was blocking access and would get towed next time, turns out he was a local councillor and that about an inch of my bumper overlapped the the start of the drop.

The next weekend one of my friends brought over 2 taxed and MOT'd vans that he was selling and we parked them either side of his kerb using a straight edge to ensure we didn't overlap. Left them there for 2-3 weeks, he was obviously fuming when he saw me but knew he couldn't do a thing. Payback's a bitch  :y

The real problem is the Adolph, people were all parked, and going to local shops. OK some were slightly over the line or on the line, but not causing anyone any problems. No one was parked badly or in two bays, causing an obstruction etc. The bays in this area are very tight.
The only problem was the idiot in a uniform scooting round on a moped merrily slapping tickets on everone. I would have slapped him, we do not need this revenue making attitude from the council.
My pet hate is that being disabled I have a blue badge, and the number of people who use the disabled bays when not entitled to do so is unbelievable. The excuses are 'I will only be a minute', I am delivering', they don't half get indignant when I block them in ;D :y.
I need the extra space to open the drivers door fully, very much like parents with toddlers people seem to think they can just park in the reserved bays. A woman in Sainsburys car park this morning looked at me rather puzzled when I told her she had forgotten something...... YOUR CHILD  ;D ;D.

That drives me nuts, too! Especially in our office car park which has tight spaces between concrete pillars.. the other day there was a Ford Ka taking up two spaces FFS!

And don't get me started on the guy who drives a big gold Cherokee who is usually either diagonally over two spaces (apparently reversing and straightening up is too much of a chore) or using a space and a half.. I swear I'm going to print a big sign that says "Learn to park!" and stick it on his windscreen.

Totally agree as our work car park is exactly the same. it aint difficult at the end of the day but so many make a pigs ear of it and we have no choice to park next to them as its bound to be the last space >:( >:(

Technically, if your door mirror passes over the white line, then you are in danger of being ticketed as you still restrict access to the bay beside...

I would have thought that if you display 2 tickets that you shouldn't get a ticket...

totally agree with you on the disabled spaces - and i'd never sit in one for even a second, but as for the "parent and child" spaces, If I'm popping into Tesco's after say, 9pm I'll use them  :y

Its a joke if that is the case especially if you have parked smack bang in the middle. what more can you do except buy a peel P50 and even then someone will struggle to park it ;D

My pet hate is also the misuse of Disabled Bays, Tesco's have horrendous usage by Parent with Child using them...

I'll put my flak jacket on now and say that IMO P&C bays should be in a safe position in the car park where there is minimum liklihood of danger to children, however, this doesn't mean right outside the shop, where mobility impared really do need to park...  I got a warning when I parked in a P&C bay displaying the Blue Badge as "They are for P&C, not disabled" despite them being full when I parked....
