Yes it does work, just scroll down half way, click on the "support the campaign" link then you'll find the petition form at the bottom of the page.  :y

actually Farage was on Question Time and he got a lot of support from the audience by basically blaming everything on the EU, so its maybe time to strike while the iron's hot if we really want out  :y


But, do we, can we, is it in our best interests? :-/ :-/ :-/

We need to fully understand the answers to those questions before we leap.  However Brussels should be closed down and fully, properly audited, before any attempt to start again!  No auditor clearance, then no Brussels; 16 years is quite long enough even for my patience! :o :o :o :o


If you want democracy back, there is no alternative.  ;)

It is ironic that we quite rightly salute Aung San Suu Kyi the Burmese pro-democracy leader, yet daily we surrender more of our freedoms to faceless, unaccountable, unelected mandarins in Brussels.

Indeed, Lizzie, in the thread about Zulu's avatar, you said of Aung San Suu Kyi "what a great woman of so much courage, commitment and determination to fight for the rights of "her" people!"

No one calls her a "Little Burmese" (though she's not that tall! ;)), yet when some of us talk about fighting for the rights of "our" people* we are called Little Englanders! ::) ::)

*By our people, I am talking of all UK citizens, no less.

The problem is Nick I still feel the EU could be the right way for us, but at the moment it certainly is corrupt in its administration and functions, and can no longer be trusted, which actually confirms what I first thought back in 1973 when I voted "NO" to Britain's entry into this organisation.  Unfortunately the "Yes" vote won and that damn man Edward Heath took us in >:( >:(

The Euro, and possibly the EU, seems to be unraveling at the moment, so this could well be the time to have a full referendum.  The only thing that concerns me is that Germany is our main European export market, and you just wonder what we would lose with them by leaving.  Some of course will rightly argue that we will save more than we can lose! ::) ::)

EDIT:  On balance I have decided we should leave, subject to a majority in a referendum, and I have voted accordingly as it does not disagree with my Conservative principles ;) ;)

Around 20% of our exports go to the EU, which is surprisingly low imo. We have quite a large trade deficit with the EU - i.e. we import a lot more from the EU than we export to them, so would they really cut their nose off to spite their face by stopping trading with us ? I doubt it.
I can see the German people becoming very angry some time soon with the amount of their money being pumped into the economies of various countries to try to stop the Euro project from falling on its arse.

the cause of this agony are the bosses where all workers like you, loose on the table..

on the other hand workers from poor countries earn a bit more.. so bosses will find cheap workers for a longer time..

and I dont estimate they will ask the community to end the EU .. :-/

on principle,I'm all for the EU, but in this guise its dangerous and undemocratic as the fact is that these mandarins who pull the strings cannot be removed from power by we, supposedly free, citizens of europe, until and unless that changes I cant support it as its one step removed from a dictatorship  :o

Of course there's only one thing missing in this equation - a strong national government in the UK.

If we're depending on the present lot to try to tidy the mess left from our disastrous time in EU membership then we may well be creating more problems than we're potentially solving.

Sadly, I think the EU will struggle on for some time - it's in its nature after all.

turkeys don't vote for xmas, and the EU gravy train is oblivious to us mere mortals, as long as they're stuffing Euros in the mattress....actually, ironically they've probably switched to Pound Sterling or the US Dollar ;D

The likelyhood is that it will struggle on for quite some time, but it is possible it wont.Remember how the ruling administrations collapsed very quickly in the old Soviet block countries ?
They seemed inpenetrable for a very long time, but they were fundamentally  flawed and once a few cracks appeared they fell apart remarkably quickly. :-/
