Was on shift today, walked in to work as I fancied the walk, but when my colleague got in at 12, it was dumping it with snow, and considerable amount fell very quickly. We decided to say bugger to it and work from home, he was going to give me a lift home, but we had some serious problems.

First off his car is a BMW 330 Ci, it is absolutely appalling! Never seen such bad car in the snow!

Took me good 40 mins of pushing to get it barley out of the space...

I then when back in the office and stole borrowed a bit of shelving, used it as a make shift spade, which worked well.

Bit embarrassing when some old dear turned up, got in her car and drove out no issues in her 15 year old Pug  :o  ;D  ::)

Going down the A4 which was full of slush, the BMW refused to go in a straight line, constantly stepping out back end, no other cars where having such issues, was just appalling!

Walking was quicker, by far, as it turned to grid lock, so i took to the pavement:

Got back to my flat, had a nice view from my kitchen....

All local roads were fubared though! Slightest incline and cars/vans/trucks were getting stuck....

A truck got stuck, notice the pillock in the 3 series going wrong side of the road  ::)

Everyone followed like sheep, which led to more problems:

Now that truck was stuck for a good 45 mins, a gritting lorry turned up (which was stuck in the queue) but the pillock of a driver decided not to grit this junction  :o :o :o

He drove straight past the Lexus which had been stuck for a good few minutes.

Noticed Lexus and BMW's RWD refused to work in the snow. Audi and Mercs had no issues...

Main problem is the slush everyware, roads not being cleared and not gritted.  >:(

Tunnie, you are really good at telling an event with piccies :y

No  ;) but I'm fortunate that I have an alternative car to use.  :)
I live at the top of a slight hill & when it's compacted snow the Omega just won't look at it, well it does but just stops moving forwards halfway up  ;D ;D Maybe I should buy a couple of bags of sand for the boot if I really need to use it.

Been out today in the Miggy and only had to abandon a hill climb to fetch SWMBO from hair dressers, decided to park up at the pub at the bottom of hill and have a swift Shandy until SWMBO walked down the hill and met up with me. :-)

Drove home with no issues but did see quite a few abandoned BMW and Mercs on the road who couldn't make minor slopes.

A trick I have been taught when driving a RWD with NO LSD or TC is when a wheel starts to spin is to slightly apply hand-brake on and off quickly to put a little resistance on the spinning wheel this then tricks the DIFF to transfer power over to the un-driven wheel making it act a little like LSD ;-) (AND IT WORKS)

Funniest I have seen today is my neighbours Audi TT 3.2 4x4 stuck in the street, we had to give him a push.
Oh the joy of power and stupidly LOW PROFILE TYRES  8-)

No snow here yet this time around, but bloody FREEZING! It's showing -9 on the MID & I live right on the coast! The main thing I worry about isn't that the Mig will let me down, the old girl has done amazingly well so far, it's the fact that hardly anyone has a clue how to drive in bad weather!! My heart is in my mouth every time I take the car out in case some dipstick writes it off, which as we all know doesn't take much doing at all these days with modern cars & bloody daft labour rates at autobody repair shops! >:(

We've not had a massive amount of snow (about 3" at most) but very slippery under tyre ::) that said, been to SWMBO's Christmas do and I was driving... No problems, even on the untreated roads with sheet ice ;) I don't understand why everyone is having problems  :-? Although I did drop the tyre pressures to about 28psi on the way out and have plenty of weight in the boot :y

Spoke too bloody soon! ::)
As I was locking up before bed last night it had started to snow tiny dry little flakes that laid immediately. Got up this morning at 7:30 (well it is Sunday!) & we now have 5" of the stuff! :'( My grandkids say it makes the best snowballs 'ever'! ::) Still coming down in a light, steady drizzle (is that the right word for snow?) & the sky is Battleship Grey so plenty more to come yet methinks! :(
