my life will be better if I don't know!
Are you going to hide in your house because the papers say it is too dangerus to go out? or enjoy the life you have while you have it.
We all die sometime, shit happens, get use to it and make the most of the time you do have.
Here endeth the second lesson.

Not at all! I am going to enjoy my life while i have it! I have unfortunately been on the wrong end of 'fundamentalism', at least I think that's what they call it now, and have learnt alot from this and other experiences.
I'm not scared of death and I'm not burying my head in the sand.
Bad things have happened and bad people have existed from day 1 week 1, I can't change it. So I will improve the quality of my life while I have it. When I left a former employment, I was given a religious book my a born again christian: 'Rumours of War', by Kenneth Copeland, ISBN 0-88114-832-6 if you care to look it up. Now, despite the fact I'm not religious in the slightest, and will be fitting an oil cooler and thermostat on the 25th, the message I can still relate to.
It basically says there is wars/rumour of wars, bad news/deception, violence and all bad things happening at every turn. It's on the news, in the papers, your neighbour talks about it, it's everywhere and we can't escape from it. It is upto us to not let it envelope us, which could happen easily if you're a right thinking fair minded person who cares about the world.
I know the same can't be said for everyone, but if you hadn't consumed any form of news programme (TV/papers/internet etc) in the last 12 months, what difference would it make? I'd suggest you'd be happier for it. Who cares if you aren't upto speed on current affairs? Does it really affect you? Why would you want to know/see/talk about bad things anyway?
Live your life, be free, make your own destiny, know your own mind, don't allow yourself to be deceived, and guard your mind against the negatives in the world.
