Anyone watching this (Channel 4 +1)? At only 56st  :o he's having his gastric by-pass. It's not his fault though  ....... apparently!  :-? :-? :-?

It costs (us) £700+ to look after him!  :-X

Vamps - live off takeaway pizza. That's certainly seen me gain 30Kg (66lb in old money) since last May. I wasn't exactly svelte beforehand, so I'm well on my way to being featured on TV, I reckon..  :-X :-[

Really should fix that, but for some, it really is harder than others - resorting to food usually being a learned response to something else (stress, etc), it's just like trying to give up fags, or drink, for me.

And now I should probably stop reading this thread, before all the skinny folks come on and brand all us fat folks the scourge of society, the root of the economy problems and all manner of other things.

I must be lucky then. The amount of sshit I eat is unreal and I still don't put on any weight!

I've just devoured a full packet of jafa cakes (did the same last night), kit kat chunky, on my 4th can of John Smiths, biscuits, crisps, little swiss rolls, Had my tea earlier. I'm so lucky! ::)

Oh yes, definitely more to it than just diet - level of activity plays a big part and, of course, your metabolism.. I've no idea whether metabolisms differ due to genetics (they certainly can - thyroid problems, for example) or learned metabolism (since your body can adjust that largely at will).. but some people's seems to race while others definitely plod.

I work with a fella who's only moderately active, eats for four, yet is like a bean pole.

I may secretly hate him..  ;D

Not been watching, but I do know that really fat people, with folds of skin, can have many problems, sores, yes but body odour because they can not wash fully or wipe their bottom, some can not even reach..sad for those who can not help their situation.  I remember in the 90's a tv programme about obese people and one lady was pregnant, when they went in to do the cisarian loads of liquid spurted out, horrible.......
I remember the case because I was involved in caring for her 8 year old son and knew her, but I remember thinking how on earth a bloke could have physically managed to get her pregnant in the first place....

I have to say that SWMBO hates the fact I can eat more or less what I want & am only (almost  ::)) 14st (but should be nearer 13) whereas she only needs to look at a pie & gains weight!

Unfortunately I think it might change for us as we get older, we'll get fatter, so let's enjoy it now while we can! ::)
