if the LibDems get an Aalternative Vote or Proportional Representation system in then that would be a much more accurate reflection....of course it would mean that parties on the right wouldn't get a sniff of power again as we're all fairly left of centre, british sense of fair play and all that 
I'm all for fairness BJ (and balance) but in my experience the AV, PR (particularly) or now coalition methods of doing business invariably lead to a trading shop within the given administration where the real effects of the resultant decisions are often diffuse.
Sometimes - providing the talent is sufficiently capable - there is simply no substitute for strong majority government.
We can attempt to accommodate as many opinions as possible but in the end not every person/group can be satisfied.
The recent inclination for government here to make this nation an inclusive experience for our diverse population has resulted in confusing and conflicting legislation that has often failed to address fundamental matters where clear decision making is required – decision making that is unimpaired by the dilution of ideas to try to satisfy all those who would have a hand in the process.
At times there can be too many Indians and not enough chiefs.
