what i never understand on these cheap car challenges is why do they pay so much for these cars? those bmw's were rust buckets with well over 100000 miles on the clock. surely they wouldnt cost 2-3k in the real world????  :o :o :o

I know. That crock of crap that hammond had was 500 quid's worth ;D

Was expecting the final stunt challenge to be like a demolition derby. 1 bump and that was it ::)

I don't want to appear to be promoting TG but I think they were giving us an eye-opener.  A lot of peeps think certain marques are un-criticiseable and also miss important points when buying s/h.  There's no way anyone will be analysing particle samples from interiors but I've seen a few that were about to be purchased where some undesirable products had been carried and spilled so I've advised against.

Spot on! I can't believe some people still take it seriously then slag it off for being staged, boring or repetitive. ::) Thoroughly enjoyed it as usual. :y

Fair comment. :y I guess it would cost the BBC too much money to keep making new episode's that are better than the previous, so I just enjoy each one as it comes along and take it as it is. That makes the really special episodes that much more appreciated. ;)

I enjoy the 'cheap' car challenges, and the races etc. Staged, of course (mostly - I suspect the odd unexpected thing happens, and they leave it in because its funny).

That said, last nights wasn't the best, and the finally was doubly disappointing.

But seeing middle aged men arsing around like 14yr olds gives me hope that I am normal.

on that point about it being staged - do you think Clarkson, May and the Hamster actually go and buy the cars themselves or is it just a gimmick? I can imagine they maybe trawl through autotrader pick a car and get a researcher or producer to go pay for it?
