you don't really notice it in the normal shite like Eastenders, but when you've got something with high-res graphics solid colour background and a lot of movement it shows up a lot more.

If they moved the P frames closer together would improve things, but that costs bandwidth 

you know, i suspected they'd downgraded the normal picture when HD came out, to make HD look comparatively better......i'm just naturally suspicious tho 

They may well have done it to free up bandwidth for the HD channels, of course, or to add a few more of those really compelling shopping / religion channels which we all watch so avidly.

As with all Murdoch media, quality is inversely proportional to intellectual content.
