....is absolutely rife. It's everywhere. From the postman to insurers, from the banks to car dealers. Even rather McDonalds can't serve the right burger.

Recent news on insurers hiking prices and motorists suffering 40% increase in costs has set me off this time. First off the "news" is at least a year out of date for starters. We all noticed premiums going up long ago, ESP Direct line customers. Why, according to the "news"?  Accident claims and unscrupulous lawyers. Oh really, what about the 9 month waiting list at the ombudsman for claims to be assessed, due to incompetent insurers cocking claims up.?

Insurers costing us money. Banks costing us money. Nhs badly run, Gp's hopeless if you can get an appointment and don't get me started on GP receptionists. Order something from a shop and it's wrong or damaged on delivery. Cost of living gone up, but go to Asda and the veg is soggy and if the meat last 2 days before it's off I consider that to be good by their standards.

...oh, and the builders on next doors loft extension keep dropping crap on my car. There's going to be a row!   >:(

Rant over!  :)

It's not incompetence..it's the way of the world nowadays....and, as I've been saying for years, it can only get worse.
WTF? Are you..... Agreeing?    With "me"....? :o

You have a job too on here! Remember?   Come on, back to it....     ;D

garages see pound signs when its an "insurance job" do a couple hundreds quid work and bill the insurers thousands, the insurers dont particularly care as they'll get it back in increased premiums  :(

also i think theres an underlying trend as companies chase profits and cut costs they skimp on training, farm out jobs to other cheaper countries, and generally increasingly treat their staff like dirt as unions become less and less relevant (i worked for a huge insurance company that actively discouraged you for joining a union and was told "it doesnt look good"  :o :o) we've sleep walked into this - an untrained, unmotivated workforce who'll do the bare minimum, take no pride in the job, arent given the tools to make a difference if they could - its no wonder that we all get rubbish service everywhere you look  :(

Quite agree Banjax - what we need is to get back to the halcyon days of the 1970,s. British Leyland - closed shop, unions ran the place, management were frightened to even speak to the workforce.
If we can bring that back, we can once again have the glorious build quality we used to enjoy then. :y ::)

Yes, we need to see more brown coloured cars on the road. 8-) :y :y

Although in my view, union membership should not be discouraged.

I'm inclined to agree with many of those points BJ. :y

It would also be nice to see responsible leadership from not only employers but also unions, as there seems to be little mileage in confrontation.

In addition, might I suggest that the malaise so often seen in today's workforce is indicative of a wider problem in society stemming from how many of those are parented, educated and influenced by consumerism, celebrity worship, (perversely) diminished real-world communication skills and the throwaway nature of this society?

the German car manufacturing industry is highly unionised with workers and management working together openly and honestly Albs so I wouldn't blame the workers for the poor quality designs that management implemented  ;)

Unions in Germany are a totally different creature to unions in this country. I never mentioned designs. I mentioned build quality. ::)

Not necessarily any better, though. They have so much power that they go in and decide who goes if there are redundancies. So, the breakwit old fart with the wife and 3 kids stays and the single, keen, recent graduate who is critical for getting the next project out of the door but has no dependants goes.

As I understand it, they operate in such a way, that in this country they would probably be branded as management mouthpieces. could be wrong though. :-/..........it is unlikely though that they are of great assistance to running a succesful company - they very rarely are. ;)
