I have seen some muck in PCs, worst is definitely from a smokers house where the tar builds up on the components.
Not found any creepy crawleys so far

Only last week. It was every bit as full if not more of dust. Even took the power supply to bits and was surprised to find a fan in there.  Spain really is the dustiest place in the world. :y (Not many bugs though)

When did you clean out your lappy's heat exchanger? It's amazing the amount of fluff that builds up on them, usually only noticed when it starts to overheat and shut down "for no reason".

My lappy has been shutting down for no reason since I got it, usually after its been running for quite a while. Presumably overheating. Its a refurb jobby, so maybe someone forgot to hoover it out during the refurb. :-/

You'll probably find a carpet of fluff wrapped around the heat exchanger Albs.
I usually take the heatsink/fan assembly out and attack it with the compressor then renew the heat sink compound when I put it back.

Some like this acer are a piece of cake, take off the memory/cpu cover and unscrew the heat sink unit. Did a tosh the other month that needed virtually stripping to the motherboard to get the fan out. It depends how it's been designed. If you want to try it have a google around for a service manual for your lappy, that should give you a clue how it comes to bits.
