318 iirc? My mum's (olde rthan yours) is a comfy ride. I can't 'gel' with it, though can't put my finger on why. It goes well enough (for what it is), stops and turns well. I just can't seem to get confident in in (probably no bad thing really)
1.9 litre 318iS, 1998 on an R plate.
The original deal from my OH's godfather was that if we taxed it for 6 months, then we could either use it for 6 weeks until the Trooper was sorted and then give it back with the tax on it, or we could buy it at that point for £600.
When the offer was made I saw it as nothing more than a stopgap and had no intention of buying it as Beemer's have never floated my boat.
Having actually used it for the last couple of weeks though it has grown on me to the point where I will actually buy it because other than the creaking when turning the wheel while stationary (which I suspect is down to lack of use) it really is a good car that is fully loaded with all the toys that were available at the time.
I do have the odd reservation about it, but like yourself I just can't put my finger on exactly what it is that niggles me occasionally.
It's not what I would call a fast car, but it is quite deceptive and I have seen the speedo on the wrong side of 85+ on quite a few occasions.
I'll post up some pics later on this afternoon once my daughter & grandkids have finished press ganging me in to being their taxi
