Work Mates
« on: 17 August 2011, 21:07:53 »

Aren't they the best? Not spoken to one in a over a year, but I accidently managed to corrupt a Sybase database today  ::)

Maybe because I physically rebooted a blade I should not have done  :-X

Despite swearing black and blue at my screen it could not get the database back.

So an old work mate is popping by at 7:30 tomorrow morning to help me fix it!  :o  :y

Was getting worried, if this system could not be restored, my little job on the side would be no more. But hopefully it will be back and billing some chavs by lunchtime  :D  ;D

Common in all walks of business, but IT related jobs seem to especially attract this sort of Solidarity.

I had to call up an old buddy a couple of days ago that I hadn't spoken to in about 3yrs, because I'd broken something  :-[  ;D

Its called 'friendship'. They are proper friends ;)

I know I'm blessed to have many friends who will drop anything to help if I hit the panic button, and for those, I'll do likewise ;)

Thought at first you were referring to the Black & Decker ones.  To be honest, I never found them much use in an IT context.

Mind you, nor were most of the human ones... :)

I don't know, they are useful to lay a misbehaving PC/Server on, and thrash it until it behaves or dies...

Yet again I am completely lost by this tech speak! Sounds tricky though ;D
