Using my alter ego again, but here goes. Try to objectively read all the above posts and then ask why some people think this site is cliquey and unwelcoming.

I am not moaning, just trying to be objective.  :'(

He would have had much less polite replies than that on other forums  :)

Don't see anything wrong with pointing out a few basic rules  ::)

what do you know! get a life, its only a forum.

you can still read it whether its caps or not!!

boring zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  :P

If you went into a bank, post office, garage or similar whilst wearing a full face crash helmet and were refused to be served, would you take issue with that, despite there being notices that such helmets must be removed?

Likewise here, guidelines ask that you do not use capitals in general posting.  And, as someone else has indicated, its also good manners on the internet in general?

Yes, it can still be read.

But it can also be deleted......  Whether you take umbrage at that or not is your choice.

Cliquey?  No.

Basic manners and conforming with the requirements of the forum?  Most definately.   :y

Back on topic, on this site, for a variety of reasons, we cannot directly host your avatar, thus we just link to where you (or photobucket/flickr/etc on your behalf) host it.

Because of that, it means you have to ensure it is the right size, as the software that runs the site cannot resize it on your behalf, as it never actually sees the image itself (it just tells viewer's browsers where to find it).

I think on the 2nd or 3rd reply, before it got bogged down over the shouting thing, somebody gave a link on how to host pics, including resize options, but there are many tools out there that can do it.

As to capitals, as you may or may not be aware, on the Internet (not just this site), its considered shouting. As with face-to-face groups, shouting at people is often considered to be rude, and thus gets people's backs up - there is a time and a place for it to help express a feeling (especially as written text can easily be misinterpreted).  As said, that is a general Internet thing, and not specific to this site.

I hope that clarifies all points raised on this thread.
