Thanks for all the replies, informative good advice as always :y :y :y

I'm leaning towards giving the underlay a go, if I can get a good enough deal on it. I've had a few quotes so it's time to start haggling!!  See how much they need the business!  ;)

The carpet in the following pictures was brand new when the tenants moved in.  This was 2 years later after I evicted them.... >:( They let their baby crawl over that.... :(

I should have mentioned in the last post that the eviction wasn't because of the dirty carpet, but because they decided that they didn't need to pay the rent. :o  I decided otherwise!!  >:(  :y

Must be a nightmare renting out houses, the damages & mess some people live in, then don't pay the rent, certainly something I couldn't do  >:( >:(

Thanks Richie! That's interesting. I could probably make a decent job of putting the underlay down myself as it dosn't have to be as exact as the carpet!!
