Looking for a bit of support from fellow OOF’ers to be honest...
Up and till a last few days ago I had loads of interest in driving my ex police mig, love the v6 and power, though have to say that I’m starting to lose interest in the Mig all thanks to how my car insurance renewal premium has come out yet again

.
I know it happens to all of us, every year we get our wonderful renewal quote and it normally starts all over again, trying to find a cheaper quote as they’ve gone and increased it yet again.
All I wanted to do is insure my ex 3.2 police car with a few simple mod’s (mv6 wheels, Irmscher boot spoiler, spotlights and with a limited up to 5k a year mileage.
I’m 45, double figure NCDs, live in a relative low risk area and my quote was originally around £600 TPFT with the company I'm with! Quick call to the insurance company and amendments and get it down around £400, which is better I admit.
I've tried that ‘bemused.com’ site, no chance, comes out around £700 mark and pretty much so does everywhere else I've tried!
Had one so-called reputable firm whom specialises in modified cars and the insurance firm wouldn’t insure me for anything less than fully comp, which came out around £1200... Jezz.
I’ve tried almost everywhere and for the moment, still can’t get it better than the £400 mark for TPFT.
I don’t know, perhaps I am losing touch with the car market these days. But does this quote actually seem expensive to you lot?
I really do like driving the Omega, but it’s becoming a bit of a joke now and I’m starting to lose all interest in cars altogether, thanks to the way that insurance being what I think is now become a total and blatant rip-off in the last two years :-/.
What’s the point of building / modifying something if you can’t drive it on the road without paying over the odds for limited mileage policy?
Did have big plans for the car, but if that’s how much they’re after with minor mods, it’s going to be a non-starter for what I have planned for it. The intention was collecting all the bits I want, take it off the road, do the modifications, then back on the road once it’s all done with fully comp to cover all that’s been done... fat chance it’s going to happen at this rate.
Now feel I’m in a bit of a quandary?
Do I just shut up and just pay the damn £400 and keep it for another 12mths, sell it and down grade back to a 4cyl Omega and forget the whole project altogether or call it a day with regards to owning an Omega full stop?
And I know if I go and sell it I won't get much for it as large Capacity Omegas with low spec are worth Sweet nothing these days :-/
To be honest, how I’m feeling now the last one seems the better option. As owning and modifying a car these days isn’t as much fun and rewarding as it once was for me. I don’t know, maybe it’s how I’m feeling at the moment, guess I’ll have to have long think about which direction to go in now?
