Head change progress
« on: 24 August 2009, 22:30:36 »

After the business in May, my car has had a slow water leak and oil burning.

Well the head I was buring on two cylinders, must have got ruined when I had the gasket problem.

Up to cambelt refit now, the original 135 is being refitted with ground in valves and some porting to match the manifolds.

Two things to note for any head swapper.

8mm ratchet spanner for the coolant pipe - saves about 2 hours. Thanks for the advice James.

Exhaust nuts, the rear ones can be fitted from above, the front from below, this is a lot easier than trying to place on the thread on a long extension.

After drying the electrics, runs well, but still an antifreezy smell, but no obvious leak or drip.

Some other noises to be investigated. (including an exhaust blow on LHS)

Looks like Botany Bay visit on Friday :y

Tiny bit of mayonaise in the filler neck.

OK I was reassembling when the rain hit, about 20ml of rain water got into the engine through the head before I got the cam cover on.

It should dry up in a day or so.

Coil pack did get wet!
