Funny isn't it how we are up in arms about this. 'Cos I am old, I remember driving about in cars with no seatbelts, lolling in the boots of estates, sitting in the front seat, sitting on people's laps. I agree its totally wrong but it made me smile reminiscing! ::)

His Kid/His duty of care/his business.
As KW said depends very much on specific circumstances, but if the road was very quiet and there werent kids playing in the street at the time then no great harm done imo.
No insurance is a different matter though.

Not when it displays complete disregard for the law....

OK this is how most people I know learnt road craft.

On a bicycle, then a motorbike/moped training scheme, then a moped ect ect

Matter of opinion in my view.Dad having child on lap sort of steering the car, thinking they are driving it,is something that has happened since cars were invented. As long as the circumstances werent inherently dangerous I dont see the point of making a big fuss.
No - one made a big fuss of such things years ago when we used to use our judgement with our own kids and viewed the politicians job was to make laws and our job to ignore them,as long as we werent being completely reckless and downright dangerous. ;)
This btw was the method that Jackie Stewart used to learn to drive as a wee lad, sitting on his mums lap, iirc.

Same goes for mobile phones - you could say it's not worthwhile making a fuss - until someone gets killed.

I didn't mention before the car was everywhere and had to stop when I came behind it.

And it was not a field, nor a car park

Personally I dont see a problem talking on a mobile while driving an auto.I think texting while driving should be a hanging offence. :)

If thats the case it sounds like the bloke wasnt in control of the car so he is a tw*t. ;)
As I said, imo it depends on specific circumstances. It could be pretty harmless or very dangerous
.

And it was not a field, nor a car park
Messed that quote up a bit. :-[

Well, when mobiles first appeared everyone was using them while driving, then someone decided it was dangerous beyond belief, then people were getting done for eating an Apple etc,its a matter of where you draw the line.Personally I thinkthat if your driving an auto (especially if like me you are in the habit of driving with one hand on the wheel)you arent going to be doing much else with your left hand.
I have driven behind people who were texting while driving and imo they had no more control of the car than someone who had drunk 8 pints.
