What sort of power?
« on: 27 November 2009, 16:22:46 »

Hi just wondering what sort of power can be achieved from the 3.2 lump?
Is it a case of very little unless  you have a supercharger??

What sort of power are you guys running?

3.2 is not easily chipped due to the flash ECU (will only give marginal improvement anyway).

Induction kits generally only increase noise. Being a natasp petrol engine you are only going to get marginal improvements whatever you do - unless you do serious engine work and / or go forced induction.

The V6 has cooling issues over about 250 BHP anyway, leading to more surgery required to improve flow.

I think the 2.5 got more attention as a race engine in German touring cars.

The 3.2 makes over 200 BHP in standard trim, so if your's is turbo'd up and only making 140..........I have a bridge for sale you may be interested in  ;)

I'll admit I didn't read Pete's profile, but let's be realistic here.
Pete's avatar specs state a DTi, and given that I know for fact a 35 year old Kawasaki Z9 can make 147 at the back wheel....it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a DTi lump to come back with slightly more (especially as the car it is fitted to weighs almost 8 times what the Z weighs  ;) ).

What hole would that be then Andy?

PS

Just checked the specs, seems Pete is at least 20 BHP out...and not in his favour either  ;D

That's not even double what they rev to from the factory, but to answer your question......a moderate bank balance and an engineering shop that knows what they are doing  ;)

Well i don't know what specs you have KW, but it ain't for the 2.2DTi

Actually 20 more than standard ;) The DTi's not renowned for it's power output.
