Wello done Terry. :D

Don't underestimate what you have achieved. It is VERY impressive.
Just take it easy and remember to change the oil as part of the "running in" process.

I would change the oil after 100 miles,  500 miles, then another 1,000 miles.

well done Terry best of luck on tomorrows run, sure the burning will only be residue oil etc and wil probably clear aftera minute or so......

Re the smell of burning, unless there is an obvious leak i would totally agree with the above. It is normal and should disappear. :)

Good Luck.   Darryl

Cheers guys! Your enthusiasm is much appreciated and she is running great! But i've still got issues with pressure in my header tank pushing the coolant out the top  :'(

The burning has also got much less and i think will stop soon, lets just hope i can sort the cooling issue!

I'll definately be changing the oil quite soon, i did flush through the system a few times to try to get the water out, but i'm sure there's still some in there. Fingers crossed hey...

Had a similar problem with project car after oil cooler.

Run with cap off (take plenty of water with you!) as stops presurisng and allows system to start moving oil from coolant.

My neighbour, who used to work in chemicals industry recommended draining the coolant, put in a cupful of screenwash (yes, screenwash), and fill with soft water (eg from water butt). Take for quick run to get up to temp, then repeat.  I also tried same with a cupfull of degreaser - both seem equally effective.

Mine appears to be OK now, though still needs regular flushing as oil still appearing. Currently running on about 25% red antifreeze, 75% soft water and emptying daily.

Cheers people  :)

Well a new header tank cap seems to have sorted my cooling issues, lets hope it stays that way....

Time to give her a wash, t-cut and wax now  :D

The Boy, i may well go for a flush, but tbh if she's happy and content i'm scared to disturb her!

iirc, is was a head gasket? In which case, there was probably fair amount of oil in coolant. I'm afraid you'll be fishing that out for ages :(

No signs of any oil in the coolant, none at all infact, only water in the oil. I could see on the drivers head gasket where it went, between the middle cylinder (3?) and water jacket so fingers crossed she'll be ok, but i'll keep an eye out....
