Anyone have experience with 300c's
« on: 09 January 2010, 18:42:28 »

Especially the 300 CRD? Found an 06 reg and I like it, but whats the engine like, I know it's quicker than the 3.5 v6 but anyone know on the reliability front?

old class E class underneath i think, same with engines? Not sure  :-/

Gearboxes are like toffee i heard, but thats with the Hemi engine, not sure how well they last against the diesel.

I like the looks but the interior is too American, still the A8 3.0d Quattro or BMW 530d for me i think

Bloody awful, they're cheap for a reason. They look good on the outside, the cabin is a total let down. I'd avoid it. Tunnie's right, based on the old E-Class, and the CRD is the 3.0 from Merc. I wouldn't buy it, unless it was dirt dirt cheap. Someone I know had one for a few months, hated it. I can see the attraction of the exterior styling, but still not a good bet.

As with all Chrysler products - look kinda good, break kinda easy.
Interior plastics have probably snapped in this weather, they're bloody awful.

IIRC, the Traction Control cannot be switched off on 300Cs either.
Seats are crap, unsupportive and made from cream cheese, along with the suspension.
Dodgy electrics too.

I still want a 530d more than anything well other than a 911 Turbo but these look good, been reading a lot people say the plastics are good and not as bad as you'd expect, although rolly polly handling  :-/

I am with you on the 530d but old shape ones with sub 100k miles are few and far between now, current shape although has grown on me looks wise, harsh ride is a worry, its also not that big.

Really like the Audi A8 at the moment, sat in one in a dealer, very, veryyyy nice.

beemers seem to be dropping slightly in price, as junior double glazing salemens are abandonning them in favour of Audis.  Still wouldn't have one, mind.

Audi's are even more coc*ish than bm's now mind you. A8's are lovely cars but I just can't bring myself to actually want an Audi. The 5 series M Sport does have a hard ride yeah, but you can put it absolutely anywhere and it will go there, get an SE if you're worried about the ride and get shot of the run flats  :)

I note that Roger Budden who sells top-end Omegas and is spoken well of, also specialises in 300Cs.

I have sat in one and joshwyatt is right-looks good on outside but horrific inside-all mismatched shiny plastic and awful seats, tacky instruments-yak.

Wouldn't put me off at the right price though.... :y

Someone on the OOF hired one in the states a while back, big complaint about the size of the trunk I think (Compared to the size of the car)

I do like the look of the estates though, ,ight change my mind about the whole car if I drove one by the sounds of it.  :-/
