That's IT, I've had it with the stupid Omega
« on: 15 January 2010, 18:04:16 »

Fed up with spending every waking hour trying to keep the stupid car going.  Spent thousands of pounds and hundreds of man hours trying to make it work, still keep adding things to the list of faults.

You've all seen "the list" now needs gear selector, towbar electrics, both wishbones, door stay, rear end rattling like hell probably springs, taxing.

When I spend my entire wages fixing these, more issues will start and I have now had enough.

Haven't got the time, money or patience for it any more.

Are all Omegas this crap?

Mine has been very good. Virtually everything done on mine has been proactive service type work, though I did have a crank sensor fail, and its currently undrivable with a very badly worn track rod end.

Mick ;)

Had to sell my wife's car to spend the money getting it right for Poland, lived with wishbones on the trip as had no money, came back, spent £220 on tyres leaving us short this month, now doing wishbones this weekend which means the time away from family and lots of money, then need to faff with towbar electrics which are now beeping when using right indicator, now the gear selector is playing up and the thing needs the ridiculously high tax at the end of the month.  Oh, and the cruise stalk is randomly selecting resume, too.  Safe.  Nice.

I have put everything into this car at the cost of everyone else and cannot go on like this any more.

This month with the above, I will have spent £600 on the stupid thing-all on overdraft.

I have never owned a car that needed such works, constantly-and I have owned old Alfas.

It is a nice enough car, but not worth all this.  Only thing is, if I get shot of it, someone else will benefit from all the effort and expenditure.

It costs a lot more to  maintain and run than BOTH of our hatchbacks did, put together and it is simply not worth it.

Mate,

So sad to read this thread, thought you were on top of stuff and having a great time as a Mig owner......

I know it is probably of no consolation to you but I have had Omegas for nearly 3 years now and the only time I have had a problem in 45000 miles of owning them was when our first Omega's  head gasket went.....

Other than that they have been 100% reliable for me so all I can say is that there must be an end to this run of poor luck you are having with yours, and I sincerely hope your luck changes and you can again get some sort of satisfaction out of being a Omega owner

Any used car entails a certain amount of risk and "better the devil you know" as Kylie Minogue once said.........

Best wishes mate

I think sometimes it's just the luck of the draw, there are good ones and not so good ones out there.
I do recall reading your list of completed jobs, it can be easy to get annoyed with a vehicle. But you've completed so much on the vehicle so far you're nearly there with it.
The problem is, if you decided to get shot of it, it would be fairly difficult to recoup initial purchase price and everything you've spent on it.

Geoff, give me a call in the morning and we'll sort it out. I've got a load of stuff left from the gold car I broke. Trigger's Broom won't beat you ;)

WHen they are all done the car should be fine for a few years.

Wishbones - well I have had issues with mine.

I have spent a lot on my car in the last 18 months, but it is cheaper than buying another car

Well, it has been a shocking week-same for others on here i am reading tonight; typical for a dull January in a recession, maybe.

But after some moral support, a few great pms and a generous offer of help from welung666 (without whom the car would have gone in November) my spirits have lifted.

THANKS ALL, THANKS OOF  :y

We've booked for June to go to Lodz again 5-up; the Omega did well for Christmas this time; maybe just a "bit" more work and it'll be worth keeping  :o
