Better gearchanges with new exhaust
« on: 19 February 2010, 10:57:11 »

Had a new Eternal exhaust put on the other day-the old one had been blowing for many months. The auto box now seems to change much more smoothley-could this be down to the new exhaust?

I think knackered exhausts have a lot to answer for in terms of optimum running and fuel consumption.   I took an old back box apart once and although it was only just starting to blow externally, the internal perforated pipe had completely disintegrated with the result that the internal dogs hair stuff looked like it would have been significantly blocking the flow.

Not sure how this would affect gear changes - may just be the exhaust tone before and after change.. :-/

Quite possibly due to better gas flow.
