Experience with Merc Vito's anyone?
« on: 03 April 2010, 15:35:20 »

Anyone have experience Mercedes Vito's, should have one being delivered this week, 07 plate and 40 odd thousand miles. Anything in particular to look out for?

Just checked his signature, he has a Renault Trafic 115dci now, but sure he had a Merc, recall issues with suspension, light coming on and rear shocks not doing what they were supposed to, being mega high or something  :-/

My experience has always been that they are the worst dirve of the van variants out there.

I know they suffer electrical niggles such as clutch and brake switch issues

Which model? 109, 111, 115 or 120? The Met police have an extensive fleet, from speaking to some members of their fleet disposal they seem to recommend them. Dyfed-Powys and TVP have some of the V6 diesel one's.
I've driven the 4 cyl one, and found it to be rather good. Just as long as it's not the compact, too small.
I know the Viano version has had a few faults with the air suspension, interior trim and sat nav. But haven't heard anything bad about Vito's...may have just been lucky but I'd have no qualms in buying one.

It's a 109 LWB, I think, I'll have to check the papers in a mo, I haven't paid yet but I'd say it's about 2k under price £6300 on an 07 plate with 70k miles, others with higher mileage are going for around 7 plus the dreaded.

Ive had one as a work van on and off for two years, trims fall off, broken front springs.THe clutch pipe burst, the clutch pedal is very heavy in stop start taffic,(these things have happened with all three of three vitos we have)I prefer the transits a lot nicer to drive.the vitos only get 20mpg (spirited driving of course, it is a work van)ON the upside they are not in the garage as often as the transits(for eml) :y :y :y

Bought new, rusting 4 year old well kept Florist van too  :o

Just a single spot of rust, no bigger than a 5 pence piece, on my 10 year old barge!

Mercs did have a big rust issue from about 1998, but I can't remember what year they sorted it  :-/
