The love affair is well and truly over!
This happened at around mid-day on Friday...

Trouble was it happened in the middle of no-where...

...so I ended up walking 10 mile to get to my destination. I then had to borrow a car, drive the 100 miles back to Wolverhampton to pick up my tools and a new auxiliary belt (How can the water pump be classed as an 'auxiliary' component?).
Saturday was spent servicing the diesel 106 I had borrowed and fitting a new aux. belt to it because the damn thing spent most of the drive back squealing and I had visions of it failing like the Omega.
I then drove the 90 miles back to my car and spent ages trying to work out which of the three belts the spares shop provided actually fitted the car. Sussed it in the end and fired up my car and let it heat up gently to check for coolant leaks. I left the borrowed Peugeot at the side of the road and went to collect it's owner in the Omega. It got 5 miles down the road and then the spring for the aux. belt tensioner decided to let go...
To cut a long story short I had to phone a friend from Wolverhampton and they came down that night to pick me up, I was planning on joining a recovery service and then get the car recovered at a later date, but when they got to me it was decided to tow the car back the following morning. We spent the night on the beach having a barbecue and a few drinks/smokes. First light saw us disconnecting the drive shafts from the hubs to save the auto. box and towing the Omega 95 miles back home.
I had already decided to sell the car due to it being un-able to go past a petrol station without needing a drink, it has been advertised on tinternet for quite a while but not one person has got in touch to come and look at it. In comparison my Vectra diesel was advertised at 11 a.m. and sold by 4 p.m. the same day!
I should stick a new tensioner on it (The old one seemed fine, it span with no noises or notchiness so I took a chance) I but have already spent LOADS on this car...
Track rod ends, wishbones and new brakes all round, done less than 1,000 miles, £80's worth of four wheel suspension alignment to protect the new Falken rubber, and if I were to do the tensioner then I'd have to do the timing belt and I can't be arsed/don't have the money... I'd much prefer to take my revenge on the car, for making me walk 10 miles, by cutting it up into little pieces and taking them to the scrap yard...
