Car buying....
« on: 04 August 2010, 11:30:05 »

I went for alook around the local 2nd hand car dealers yesterday in an attempt to assertain what is in my price range and quality of car....I saw lots of ex fleet cars that people want silly money for...Don`t they know theres a credit crunch on....But i did not see 1 veccy c or signum for sale, there was a nice mondeo ghia x with all the toys and in good condition but the dealer did not like ansering my basic questions like when was it serviced, does it have an MOT? All he wanted was for me to put a deposit on it...I walked away saying the missus will have to see it before i do that...Needless to say there was not much out there so i guess i`ll have to look more in depth after we come back from holiday next week.... :) I like car shopping though... :P

Auctions aren't a bad bet when its credit crunch time, but as always do your homework first, a lot of ex fleet going through at the moment for silly money and some good guaranteed low mileage and no faults warranty examples about.

If you've never done Auctions before then take someone with you who has and just keep both common sense and your wits about you.

Chris.   ;)

I've just bought a car from a not so big car super  market. They used to be a small sort of independant type car sales mart, but now taken over by Lookers.

Trouble is you have to listen to all of the speil before getting down to the real questions, how much are you going to knock the car down by. They suddenly go all quiet on you when asked that.
Caught the service manager out though when he tried to sell me a service package.
I said, now you've serviced the car what oil have you put in it. He said I don't know but I'll find out for you, it just comes in a big drum.
I said and you want me to trust you with my car when you don't know the answer to a basic question, and an important one at that :-/

I will be doing an oil change shortly, just to be sure :y
