I think the police should be told, else some other sucker may get landed with it. It takes quite a bit of work to clock a modern car, so he obviously knows what he is doing.

How many others has he conned in the past, and will go on to con in the future ?.

He was online about an hour before this thread started. Should be banned imo. I also think the post count limit for selling cars should be raise to at least 250. It would go someway to stopping this sort of thing.

Couldn't agree more  :y

sorry guys, glad you got it sorted
BUT!!!
it will prob be sold to some unsuspecting person who is going to be ripped off and then say omegas are really bad cars?
so my vote goes to a anonymous call to either trading standards or dlva,
if this is allowed to just die with nothing done how many more cars will be clocked?

A valid point. It has already come very close to ensnaring a few members on here...

At the very least the reg. number needs to be spread around pistonheads, Autobahnstormers, etc. But that won't come close to targeting all potential buyers.  :-/

.. and next time the seller will make sure he's not left a trail of evidence behind him. >:(

If the call is anonymous it's got to be worth making to save someone else the heartache, surely?

I'm glad you got it all sorted in the end  :y
I have thought about purchasing the vehicle from fingers21, to take parts from it then destroy it. What condition is the leather interior in? I imagine the seats are very worn?
I wouldn't want anyone else to fall foul of this veicle again. I believe when it was sold on ebay with 226k miles it went for £1300 in Dec 2009, so now the mileage is unknown it's not worth much at all. I could buy it, take parts from it then ensure it is destroyed.

mate it is immaculate, it's in mint condition for 94k let alone way over 200k, thats why i wasn't suspicious at the time.

it was also sold for £1500 in oct 2008 with around 210k  ;)

it also never had a new engine and clocks at the time that's written in the service book(208K), thats been added at a later date by someone. I've had this confirmed by the owner at the time and the servicing garage.

At the end of the day i'm not saying that fingers clocked it, but he 100% knew there were issues that should've been disclosed.

It takes quite a bit of work to clock a modern car...

I beg to disagree.

I recently purchased a Vectra from auction to replace my Mv6, the beige interior in the Vectra was filthy, and after spending a day with the Vax, it was decided the best course of action would be to change the whole interior because it was still unacceptable. I managed to find an SRi spec Vectra which had a dark interior and 1/2 'leather' seats, I also took the silver heater/stereo surround and the matching instrument binnacle.
After I had swapped everything over I noticed that the mileage on my 'auction bargain' had gone from 73k upto nearly 150k.

thats the thing, weather he clocked it or not, he knew the problem, and should have done as dub did and get his cash back from his seller, one way or an other. Although i get the impression from some of the pm's i had that this may not have been possible for some reason.

The clocker should be found imo. if possible.

It's funny you should say that, guess where the original set of clocks from my car is right now.

Do facelift Omegas have digital odometers, or are they mechanical like in my pre f/l Mv6?

Sorry I meant it takes technology to re-write the  earom or what ever is used to store mileage.
