Oil cooler pipes
« on: 22 August 2010, 20:06:15 »

A few months ago I noticed the oil cooler pipes on my diesel were rotten and oil was weaping from them so as a temporary measure I cut them and sheathed them in a rubber pipe using jubilee clips at each end. Well the temp repair let go yesterday making a right mess. Ive spent this afternoon removing the alternator, power steering pump, battery and tray to get the old pipes out but unfortunately the new secondhand pipes I have bought are different so won't fit :( Looks like its £120 for the Vauxhall ones as we're supposed to be going away this week, sods law :'(

What a mess its made ::)

Rather a mess indeed.. I think this is a job I need to do on mine, too (based on where I see wetness while peering down from the top with a torch).

When you do the job, you couldn't stop and take a few pics of the pipe routing etc, could you?

Not looking forward to the bill, though, if the only option is VX ones! :-/

EP's patent rust prevention system. ;D

Have you tried your local hydraulic hose makers? They may be able to make some pipes up cheaper than VX prices Pete.

Look up hydraulic pipes in the yellow pages.  Generally a few sevices locally, I used one when my Power steering pipe split on my Camaro.  Took the old one, made me an identical one and pressure tested it to 3000psi.

£3/4 cash in hand as the boss was out.  ::)
