Ref: Astra 1.4 'H' sxi ABS & Engine management lights on

Hi,

Does anyone know where to start looking, or what it could be ?.

My other half was driving her car yesterday, and had to do an hit the brakes via an emergency stop.  Then after continuing for a mile or two the ABS light, then the Engine light came on ?.  She managed to get home safe and sound thankfully.
Anyhow, left the car for awhile, tried several times of starting, but both lights still kept coming on, so I'm not sure where to start looking as the possible problem ?.  Though can't figure why the warning lights have only just shown up now, as for months nothing, car had a service couple of weeks ago, and nothing was pointed out has needing doing.

I'd like to have an idea of what it could be, as even though the cars under warranty, I'm not keen on her taking it to the garage, and them try to pull a fast one saying it's something that's not covered by the warranty ??.

Can anyone suggust what the problem could be, and why it's suddenly only happen ?.
Surely it can't be an ABS problem because the brakes have been used for one 'emergency stop' ?.

Would appreciate any help.

Cheers.
