£50 says it was actually blown bulb and handbrake? Have I become a rich man very quickly?  ::)
The failure cert says it was a failed numberplate bulb. Only the single failure recorded.

Oh, not too bad then.
But, like everyone else has said, I'm suprised they didn't change it. When any of mine go in, there's always an understanding that anything up to £40 that may need replacing is done without needing to ask me first. So that's usually bulbs, wiper blades etc.
Mine goes to an independant garage first, then to a MOT test station, so it's not direct. But it always works best.

Rusty Exhaust, he reckoned that won't be long (and I'd have to agree)

If they do not fail enough they risk being investigated - including having their licence to do MOTs removed.

Dont 100% agree with the wording of that comment.  They can only fail what is genuine, and with the cost of an MOT these days motorists are doing thier best to make sure thier cars pass 1st time.

MOT stations are randomly testing with bogus cars, some with major faults and some with minor, I dare say they even take a perfect car for a test to suspect stations that they think are creating work for no reason at all.

The result is probly a better standard of cars on the road and less failures hence they now pick on stuff they can fail a car on that normally they would never have bothered with, like Jamie and his air freshner.

Although there are no targets, they have a target of about 30% to fail.

Work that out!

My dad is a retired tester, both him and the chap who MOTs my car now have told me if they do not fail enough they get checked VERY carefully.

Mine always fails on something silly then passes - usually the tow bar protecter plate.
