Love my new MV6.... but
« on: 29 September 2010, 10:46:10 »

I recently bought my black Omega 3.0 MV6 from a member of OOF, and first I must say what an awesome car I actually look forward to the drive to work now, for such a big car it handles brilliantly and predictably. I turned the traction control off for the first time in the wet yesterday and was giggling like a schoolgirl on my way home from work at 11.30 on empty roads, the back end doesnt step out as much as my Merc E320 estate used to. The car has had a Stainless Steel exhaust fitted and it sounds awesome, the only problem being that my two year old little boy has taken to sitting with his fingers in his ears when in the car, I like the spec of the car, and its sooo comfy to drive, only down side of this car in general is the mpg  :o  When buying any second hand car, its gonna have something wrong, and I guess I was pretty lucky with this one, when driving the 300 miles home after picking up the car (and leaving my old stop gap one as it conked out), I noticed the car was pulling pretty badly to the left, got it in to see a mechanic I trust the next day and first he changed the rear brake pads, still the same, so after a couple of days it went back to him and the fault was diagnosed as the front suspension arm, so got these fitted same day (both sides) he then showed me the problem, which was a split bush, strangely a new arm had been fitted quite recently on one side, and that was the one that had failed, hope these cars dont eat bushes like my vectra c used to. Anyway even with the garage bill and the price of the car - what a bargain, how much would the equivalent Merc, BMW or Audi have cost in this condition  :y

Good to see another Omega convert. :y They do have theit pitfalls and common faults but most of these are addressed on here. If you can live with the fuel and maintenance costs they're exceptional cars for the money. :)

14K miles (in 2 years).....not my commute car.....if it was the commute car it would have had an easier life.

So you think the Lemforder ones are not worth paying extra for?

The wishbones fitted were from a company called first line, priced up the gm ones and they were ridiculously expensive. I was thinking now I have spare ones I could clean them up and fit polybushes, but where could I source them? powerflex only seem to stock one.  :-/

Powerflex on the front - too much movement on the rear

I have just put the 55 ebay specials on mine last week, have kept the originals which may or may not have been on for the last 90K. Started to clean them up and will rebush them with polybushesfor when these fail. Average about 1000 misles a week so will keep you posted :y
