That's just what they want you to think. ;)

I am sure that once the storm in a teacup has subsided, things will go back to how they've always been. Some insurance companies will toe the UKLPG line, others will decide they would rather not turn the business away and be a little more relaxed about it.

After all, it's not like UKLPG can do any more than lobby insurance companies, just as they did when they were issuing paper certificates. They have no legal recognition.

That's interesting, no legal footing! so there is no legal requirement to be registered or have a certificate then? simply down to how the insurance companies feel, I have just gone with Admiral, anyone know how they feel about duel fuel cars?

I have re-insured mine twice since the conversion, Once with Elephant, who wanted to see the original certificate and returned it to me by recorded delivery, and once with Adrian Flux, who were quite happy that the V5(C) and therefore the DVLA records, show the car as "Dual Fuel" ... so 50% so far.

DVLA were insistent on seeing the original certificate.. no ifs or buts .. had to go.. but sending it in got me £10 refund and a new V5(C) correctly annotated. Not sure if DVLA are "signed up" to the new database or not .. :(

Really?  :-/ I just sent in receipts of LPG parts, one invoice for tank and rear pipe work, and one for front end kit, which was just e-bay purchase confirmation!

Nope. If your insurer is happy then it's fine.

UKLPG are just a trade organisation who used to fit cookers in caravans and decided they could be experts on fuel injection systems too. ;)

Mike, as you know when I did mine (which is at least as good if not far superior to any 'professional' install, even though I say so myself ::)  I found when I took it to be inspected by an LPGA Installer for the issue of a 'Compliance Certificate' that a new system was being rolled out across the UK & that from the middle of June 2010, no certificates of any description were being issued & instead the Installation was being entered onto a National Database. So nothing has changed as far as you are concerned and SAGA accepted mine (after a bit of confusion) so you will have no trouble there either now ::)
Also worth remembering that I am/was a Gas Engineer and I like things neat & 'just so' :y
Oh, & you can't get cheaper than FREE Labour! :D
As for the DVLA, the Installer who checked my car and added me to the Database issued me with a 'Compliance Letter' on Headed Company paper stating that the install complied with current Regulations and was a Registered Installation. V5 followed shortly thereafter! :y
