Been given a little project
« on: 21 October 2010, 18:05:39 »

A 1992 'K' Mazda MX-3 1.8 V6 in red, good bits are that it has no rust, a rare front bumper (apparently), new exhaust, full Mazda Service history and 50 something thousand miles  :y :y

Problems are though, sometimes it develops a misfire when it's warm (plugs I suspect), CV joint needed, it's been sitting since November and hasn't been cleaned since then either  :o

The major problem is though, when it was last cleaned in November, someone (my sons mate) used lorry wash without diluting it so it now has streaky paintwork in places, even a long hard polishing with T-Cut got some out, but left a lot of streaks in there any ideas what to use, I'm thinking Farcela G3 or 3M cutting compund?

Couple of pictures of the streaks on route  :y

Don't want to be alarmist but does the MX-3 use the infamous V6 unit that gums up big stylee?

if you have an electric mop/polisher i would go for G6 G3 is really only for fine polishing, but if thre paint has faded badly behind the truck wash it will always be streaky!!

The paint has only faded where it's been sat, it wasn't like that before, but I hope it doesn't stay like that, it's a cracking little car, pictures anyway, sorry for poor quality they were taken in low light:

One to show how well it does come up, we only went over this side once too:

cant understand the conditions of paint exactly from the pictures but if there are bad areas that resist to polish you can use 2000 grid with soapy water..

but first age those papers by rubbing few times on a hard surface..
