Multi Car Insurance - Admiral
« on: 30 October 2010, 09:38:29 »

The Omega goes on to the Multicar policy next week so I was happy with an Annual Premium of £180 fully comp and protected ncb as agreed when the confirming letter dropped through door. Until I noticed they had missed a named driver - they are now trying to charge an extra £120 for that driver who is in the police, no claims or convictions and over 30, and was on the Elephant policy from which I am transferring to Admiral (Elephant is part of Admiral Group!!)

I am now having to dispute with Admiral - I will not pay this disproportionate amount particularly as he only drives the car as back up measure.

Just slight annoyance for a Saturday morning.

Yes, I can sympathise.

Had a problem with Zurich Connect last week when the renewal was due for the Prius.  They wanted £321 (up nearly £40 from last year)

Went onto their site and got quote of £248 for exactly the same cover.

Couldn't buy it on-line as I firstly had to log into a separate area but failed.

Long story short, call centre could not help - agreed that the £248 was a valid price but couldn't honour it as it had to be purchased on-line and if I wanted them to renew the cover (by 'phone) I'd have to pay the £321 originally quoted. :-?

Needless to say someone else got the business.

I recently got quotes for multi car insurance for the Miggy and my wife's newly acquired Corsa, and the combined price was £110 more expensive than doing them separately.
Doesn't make sense to my simple mind.

Basically I have a good deal - Phaeton £300 per year, Omega £180 and Signum £340 (because it was doing higher mileage and more named drivers).
So not a problem apart from the named driver issue.
Combined mileage of 30000 miles per annum.

I just used the Multicar quote system on the Admiral website - that seemed to be fine from memory (7 months ago) definitely did it on-line
