I've got 235 x 45 x 17  Kumho Ectsa KU31's on mine and can't fault them.
Replaced Bridgestone's albeit 16" and are every bit as good regards , dry, wet and roadnoise performance .

They seem very cheap. But I think I am being stupid because I cannot find Kumho in 225/55/16

You're right , they don't seem to do that size in Kumho'
I've just checked and it's actually Excsta  SPT's I've got which may be an older model as they are over a year old now.
Irrespective of which tyre you go for I can thoroughly recommend Camskil . I've purchased three sets of tyres from them and about to order a fourth for our Freelander, 48 hours to Ireland from order each time .

Pink ones... ?.   

Which of course will be absolutely fine when new, as my Falkens where. But, will degrade into something very difficult to keep straight as they wear, going by reports.

Just had 2 more KU31s fitted. £85 ish a corner from Blackcircles IIRC.

Good value for money IMHO. A pretty grippy tyre with a wear rate commensurate with that. If you're not as worried about performance you might get a harder wearing tyre for the money, I suppose. I think they take some beating.

1. Continental Sport Contact 3
2. Dunlop SP Sport
3. Avon ZZ3

But all I keep hearing is how good Kuhmos are so maybe I may give them a bash on something.

Just read a tyre test where a Dunlop, not sure which, came 2nd in class in a noise test  , and thought yours where quieter than my sc3's.... which by the way, won over all by some distance 

The problem with online consumer reveiws is that everyone will say how their particular tyre there have just bought is the worlds best.  Be that Lin-long, Falken 912, SP9000 or Michelin PS2.

I had Kuhmo KU31 on goldie, thought they were rubbish - admittedly, I was trapsing around Snowdonia in March for the majority of the miles I did in that car.  On damp roads, there was nothing good to say. Good in the dry though.


In 7yrs and 5 Omegas, despite what I've tried, or had on when I bought it, I always went back to the £100ish SP9000, and was always delighted with them.  They have their faults - noise, and tramline when worn, but if they were still available, I would reshoe both Omegas today.

Yet I won't but anything other than P6000s on the Rover, despite flirting with several other tyres in the past 10yrs (P6000s aren't available either).  But P6000s are awful on the Omega.

None of this "my tyre is better than your tyre, simply because it's the one I own" and "these new tyres are so much better than the the last(completely worn out) set, therefor they must be good tyres" nonsense.
