Todays 10 minute job...
« on: 04 December 2010, 21:42:01 »

I thought I ought to start the Elite, seeing as it hasn't been started for a couple of weeks.

It only just started.

So whilst it was idling, I did a few chores around the garage, then thought it was a good opportunity to plug in the Tech2.  No fault codes except one in the alarm.

There were a few alarm activation codes that I wanted to clear...  ...trouble is, no car pass. A bout of tightness came over me, so rather than buy a carpass, I thought I'd try and get it another way, so out came the radio (surprisingly easily - Vauxhall double din are normally a pig to get out).

Stripped it down, soldered the wires on for the programmer, then it all started to go wrong. Badly wrong.  Anyway, managed to recover it (phew!), got the security number, and reset the alarm activation list :)

But it was just a case of one thing leading on to something else, so what should have been a half hour job turned into an all day task  :'(

Looks like I have to fit a TrafficMaster as well - try as I did, I couldn't get TMC working on it  :'(

Its an information service that supplies traffic info, I think its about £30 a year but I thought it wasn't much good when I had it.

Its an additional driver aid, I wouldn't be without it now.

I have to retrofit into that Elite...
