No it's not a plug & play 'tuning box' - it's a replacement EEPROM that fits inside your ECU, exactly the same as any proper tuning shop would have to fit.. so to fit it you do need to open your ECU (and if it isn't already socketed, be handy with a soldering iron or know someone who is)

You might need to unsolder your existing chip and solder a carrier in its place but the chips that TBs contact supplies are tried and tested and not the crap you get off Ebay ;)

Well £70 sounds a good deal better than £220. I'm not exactly handy when it comes to things like that so I'd probably need to find someone to do it if I bought one. Would an auto electrician be my best bet?

A computer repair shop or even tv repairs might be able to help but open up your ECU first it might just the chip might just be a push fit, many are ;)

Ok, I'll have a look at it tonight if this heavy snow stops. I'm sure it's fairly easy to get into the ECU because I watched the chap from PowerTune do it in seconds.

Do you have the contact details of the person who does the chips your talking about?

Send TheBoy a PM and he'll put you in touch and/or supply via him (I don't actually know how it works.. I just know TB is the one with the contact :))

Go for it, mine is a 427 chip, a manual car that has done 207k. Smokes enough on Supermarket fuel (not so bad on decent fuel) and has a bit of a judder around 1500rpm.
Otherwise fuel consumption is up by at least 15% and I can overtake with a bit more confidence!

Mine doesn't feel as if it has much grunt until I'm way above 1500rpm anyway! :(
