My wife has just got a little newer shape N reg Fiesta to practice in...its a 1.8 diesel.

Been using it to get to work recently as the Mig has run out of MOT and been stuck in the driveway covered by snow since lol

So the main issue with the Fiesta is the heating...it doesnt work (namely the fan chucks out cold air, not warm or hot) and the fan only comes on when set to full, does nothing on 1,2 and 3...

Checked most of the fuses but they all seem ok...

Any ideas please??

Could be the switch itself?

Its one of those old Ford rotating dial things to adjust the fan level and one that rotates round for heat level...do you think the dials are seperate or a whole unit?

resistor pack is fubared,that is why it only works on one speed,not sure where it is on the fiesta,but used to be clipped into the motor housing on the mondeo's.

I will have to have a hunt around and find it Cheers for that The car itself has done a great job in the snow, its taxed and MOT'd till March and cost £100 so with some heating it would be a handy little car

Old ford diesel's take a long time to warm up,when it only works on setting 4 it would take hours to get heat ,sounds like a bargain you got there though.

Setting 4 is full lol Blows out cold air at a very rapid rate lol Turn it down to 3 and nothing...gonna sort out the resistor and see what happens...I need heat lol We only have 16 inches of snow here but its the most I have ever seen....seems to be melting though at the moment...

absolute bargain   would it also be worthwhile flushing the heater matrix

Is that done the same sort of way as on the Omega?? Anything that will give me heat is worth doing...was -9 here on Friday and I was freezing my nuts off on the way to work in the morning I can tell ya!

Regarding the lack of heat in the cabin, on a fiesta the heater control valve is electric and situated in the engine bay where the heater pipes enter the bulkhead, they are a very common fail and easily replaced

Found it...thanks...the pipes running in and out either side of the valve are all nice and warm/hot is that how it should be?

Pipes should be fairly hot to the touch.
My wife used to have a 1.3 fiesta same reg and shape as yours. The heater on that was good enough to cook food with.
