Sierra Cosworth
« on: 19 December 2010, 00:22:27 »

I have the Omega elite estate for the dogs but I am looking for a Magenta 4x4 Cosworth as a weekend thing.
I have spent 8 mths and ££££ travelling round the country looking for a decent car. Even got a train to Exeter for an Ebay auction with 9 hrs to go, just to find a pile of crap at the end of the rainbow. So I am looking for ideas for my next car. Lotus carlton is way beyond my means so any suggestions may help and even better if you have a car in mind.

Regards
John

im a bit biased, but for that money if your after a 4x4 turbo get an impreza, not just anyone, get an sti type r, totally different animal from any other impreza, 1260kgs, 320bhp (standard) 0-60 in 4.2 and controlable centre diff allowing you to have 50/50 to 25/75 front rear split on the power.

Dont even think about buying a Sierra Cosworth unless you have somewhere secure to store it, lost count on the amount of attempts theve tried to get mine.

If I were buying a weekend toy now, I'd go for one of those (or a turbo'd MR2 Roadster, but then I am biased!) - it's  nice to have a big barge (Omega) for day to day, and a go-kart for the weekends, you get the best of both worlds.

I would agree on the Imprezza (or Evo) idea. Much more capable (ultimately) than a Cossie, and a lot less dosh I would imagine. Is it for track days or similar ? Tbh i question the point of having a really high performance car in todays UK for road use only. :-/

how about Audi S4 Avant - best of both worlds there.....

Oddly enought, I've just got a 4x4 Sierra in Magenta for the missus to use over the winter. Not a Cosworth tho. - it a 2.0 Estate

I have difficulty seeing how you can put the 205/309 GTi into a similar class as the Cossie...  There is such a strong likelihood that they have been hammered by a previous owner considering the image that they maintained during the 90's...

My money would be on a Audi GT Quattro...  A very reasonable and robust car, which has both the performance and pedigree to sit suitable alongside the likes of the Cosworth...  The Integrale would be my 2nd choice, but, the chances of finding a good one in this country for that money is poor...
