Audi 3.0 V6 SE Avant Quattro - Do I buy?
« on: 29 December 2010, 21:24:11 »

Hello everyone. I need your advice on something not related to Omegas :o

I have the chance to purchase an Audi 3.0 V6 SE Avant Quattro. We are looking to replace the BMW 525i estate which is absolutely terrible in the snow and ice. It has spent the last 3 winters sitting on the drive.

The Audi is a 2002. With 106000 miles. A full service history and had the cambelts changed 30000 miles ago. The car is immaculate( Even the spare wheel has never been used). The car is £4500, I am sure I can reduce this by a few hundred :y :y :y
Are these any good in wintry weather and are they reliable?

Many Thanks

 :y :y :y

As its 4wd I would imagine it would be better than most other comparable cars when the going gets slippery. :-/

Although it's a 4x4 it'll only be as good as it's boots ;) Not a bad motor though :y

You may want something with greater ground clearance all the same.

Nice cars but like the Volvo XC70 I had the parts cost (and labour charge if applicable) will be substantial.

Quattro systems are brilliant in snow and ice, the Audi All Road (A6 Avant but with leccy air suspension) gives better ground clearance.

Looking at them ourselves as a replacement if these winters continue!

fact!!  if the boots are not suitable it doesnt matter  even if you use 8x8..  add the cost of winter tires..

by the way , they are good cars..

they are known as snow tires  ;D but thats wrong, they can be used also on dry and wet.. which they perform much better than the usual summer tires in cold weather where normal summer tires start to loose grip because of their wrong compounds for that weather :D :y

huge 4x4 height matters not for road use.

does mean that the 3.0 power get transferred to the tarmac followed by a forward motion  rather than a tc light flashing at ya!
