grey sealant
« on: 06 January 2011, 21:38:17 »

....... what's the curing time on it? Having carefully unpeeled what I thought would be destructions of some kind from around it, it says ....''see relevant service literature etc etc''  :-? I've even found this lot - http://www.ifz-berlin.de/eng_pdf/eng_93165267.pdf but that's not quite what I need.
Is it an overnight job to go off? I think that's what I did when I used on my car  :-/

Thought it was. Ta!
That'll drag the job out even longer then, I wire brushed & repainted the sump pan which is in the kitchen drying.  ;) ;)

Depends how thick a bead you have.

In reality its useable in about 2 hours if its not excessively thick

Thanks.  A 2/3 mm bead all the way round the sump will be plenty, there's not much room on the inside of the bolt holes to go any bigger if you wanted to. Obvioulsy it'll press to down to almost nothing.  :y :y

A couple of ours later & the sealant that oozed out is still very soft, hardly hardened at all.
I'll leave it till the morning now.  :y

It might take longer to go off in this parky weather. ;)

Parky?  :-? It was freezing! I'd to sweep snow away before I could get under the car.  ;D ;D ;D

Yeh but, the bit under pressure will have gone off, the larger bead which has oozed out will take a while to go off

Anaerobic curing etc etc
but there will be similar bead inside the sump pan that I can't see.  :y :y Another night without oil won't do it any harm, I just worry about SWMBO in the Omega when there's snow on the ground!  ;D ;D
