Wheel Refurbishment deal
« on: 03 January 2011, 11:46:52 »

Hi all,

Was doing some digging around yesterday for somewhere to get my alloys refurbished this year and came across this site.
http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/
Got an instant quote by e-mail from the site which seemed worth the dosh if the finish matched the testimonials.
Today got an e-mail from them (the Swindon branch anyway !)  that they are doing a January special deal of £200 + Vat for 4 wheels in the standard finishes (including full strip and refit, balance and valves)
They'll do same day if you can drop the car off... worth a look if you're interested.
I'll make sure I get some before and after shots - I'm going for Hi Power Silver  :y

Cheers
Ian.

on many occasions , refurbished wheels paint flakes which I have witnessed because of inefficient sanding..

so I'll ask for a guarantee if I'll pay that much :-/

Mine cost £35 per wheel a couple of years back...  ...but wasn't same day.  Was for the real McCoy - acid dips, filling etc, but NOT any straightening...

..according to the website this is for a complete strip down and dip if deemed neccessary - filling / repair etc. Does not include straightening as they will not touch 'bent' wheels so to speak.
My Volvo set need doing as well - so will see how they do with these. Come with a gaurantee.
Now - centre caps - question..... keep the badge chrome finish and pick out the background in what colour ?? - body colour Sapphire Black ? red ? black ? or keep it silver. I can get the badges off without breaking them so can easily paint the background circle - or paint the badge ?

I had my MV6 wheels done at the Nottingham branch last year. They did an absolutely cracking job. Would definitely recommend them  :y :y

50 quid a wheel is a pretty standard price TBH.

Plus the quality tends to vary hugely (you cant do a top job on one in 24 hours).

The best place around here is belmont finishings, they have been in buisness for 20+ years and do a full strip, bead blast, acid dip, fill and paint.

Beware of some of the mobile ones, perfection alloys for one are very hit and miss

Thats what happened to mine, £140 a set of 4.  Took about a week (4 or 5 working days) in total. Very pleased with result, and was given a bit of a tour as well :y

These are the rims currently on my MV6 (facelift MV6 rims?)
