Insurance Renewel...
« on: 07 January 2011, 17:51:47 »

I just had my Insurance renewal come from Direct Line...

Running at £782.28!!!  I nearly fell off my chair when I saw that, it has more than doubled!!!  Admittedly with Motor Legal and No Claims Protection...  Best of it is, I have full 9+ years of No Claims, I have a clean Licence and Live in a very quiet rural area and garage the car overnight.

Best Quote I have had is £375 from LV...  Needless to say LV will be getting my business and Direct Line can go and break themselves!!!!...

As my thread. I had my renewal come through from Adrian Flux to the sum of £389.50 :o :o :o :o
I rang around a few & the cheapest i could get was £580.00 :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
I went on Go Compare & the cheapest was £312.00, i rang Flux, told them of the price & they did my renewal for £309.00 so i saved myself £80.50.
Yes they can drop to a lower price when pushed. They are a bunch of robbing sdratsab though >:(

Already tried that one, I found they could only make adjustments and then increase my payments...  Not impressed really...

Not finished searching yet though...

You’re not the only one on here that's suffered from the great hike & attempted rip off from insurance companies of late.

Lot of us on here have experienced it over the last few weeks.  And fair few of us annoyed about it to  >:( .

Mind you with the way some drivers out there that have been driving in the snow & ice and accident rates have gone up over the last few weeks because of the weather, you can bet that this year’s increase in accident claims will next year push the quotes into probably eye watering shock in comparison to this year’s  :o

i've only ever managed cheaper quotes by going tpft and being the only driver on my policy, swmbo managed to get hers reduced by having me named on hers

but i've had an excellent quote from admiral multicar insuring swmbo and her car, with me as a named driver, fully comp, and then adding mine later, with swmbo named, also fully comp, saving us around £500

My Omega's renewal was October, then SWMBO Astra in Jan then my going to work Astra shed in Feb. I forget now what I paid each time but prorata for the whole year I remember would have worked out be around £700. Renewal was a little over £1000
I insured all 3 cars that year using Tradex (which I think Josh W uses) for £718, and it went up last Oct to £740  :y

Andy, you're quite correct, I'm with Tradex.
Tradex do offer a 'home fleet' policy for regular private users, and I've heard good things about it.
My policy is a motor trade road risks only with some added things. It is expensive, but allows me to drive anyone's vehicle up to 3.5 GVW. Because of my age all other companies wouldn't insure me, but tradex would. However, considering my friends can pay up to £3000 for their 1600c Focus' or Golf's my premium works out to be very good indeed.
So, try Tradex home fleet if you've got a few vehicles in your household...they also offer cover for specialist vehicles.

seems not  ;) I'll dig the name of the broker out for you tomorrow if you like - it's down south somewhere.  :-/

and I could have another car on it if I wanted for the same money.  :y

as long as i'd be exploiting an unknown loophole type thing and not breaking the insurance rules, i might give that a go if its cheap enough, then i'd be in no rush to get rid of the bora!
