hi there I will neade some help abouth how to drive safety in snow. last night I have bad expiriance with my car I can't hendle my car and worst was on downhill, for to top of hill I wass ok but for down ? I thray to put from 3 to 2 gear with 30 m/h and i thing the car will slow down normaly but beck willls start to push to much or start to slight and was wery dificult to hendl (have happy end) but tonight I have a long distanc to drive in snow and every expiriance what to do or tips or triks will be helpeful thenks pls teach me how to drive back will on snow I have wach a lot of drifting and ... but how to hendl car on snow does any one now??? :exclamation

Best advice is to drive slowly and use the cars controls delicately, take extra care and leave a lot of space between you and the car in front.
As for what to do if the car starts to skid, t's not a skill that can be learnt quickly. It takes time to gain the necessary experience.

Best thing to do is practice, find a large open space away from other road users and see what happens when the car starts to slide....

thenks for advice but I still can't explain whay when I put in 2 from 3 gear start to slight

Changing down from 3 to 2 will make the back slide. You are using the engine as a brake and as there is no traction between the rear tyres and the snow it will have the same effect as slamming on the brakes. If you need to change down from 3 to 2 then ease very gently off the clutch to bite it back in slowly.

if you dont have winter tires, keep enough amount of newspapers in car for the case you will be stuck..

and for winter driving, you must find an empty area and try some practicing on ice and snow to see cars capability.. and must add if you are using summer/all season tires , and they are old , I'm afraid you will have hard times.. :-/

thanks guys my tires is good winter tires I have pass 6000 with them is from this year first season I'was to practice a litle bit and its not dificlu to drift but to slow down is a litle problem for me is still comfused to change giar in smoler one and to push breaks a litle bit to slow down and to release a clunch but i hope I will have lack and will pass theth 130 miles with big problems. but nau i now what I neade with me .. and some teroi what I will neade to do

Best to prepare the car properly and drive to the conditions

Mine is fine in the snow, when I have prepared it. In fact, it's better than the wife's Panda and one of the best cars I have driven in snow

on snow I prefer a fwd small car even if you give me a 4x4 miggy.. reason simple, parts , paint and repair is not cheap

Can't argue with that... But the Panda is only 18 months old so would be more expensive to repair

Anyway... I prefer the RWD as you maintain some form of steering (powerslide) even when you lose traction

If you need to change down from 3 to 2 then ease very gently off the clutch to bite it back in slowly.

That'll allow time for the engine revs to drop too much and add to the drag...

omega parts are huge compared in size to small cars.. and another problem is painters know my painting standards which requires long preparation

and if youre going down hill gently use the brakes and do not stop the wheels. it will keep going with the wheels stopped. with the brakes barely pushed gently steer it on the road or in a worse case on the side of the road . found it verry usefull to have a bag of sand in the trunk and a full tank and not to mention winter tyres.. they are  [smiley=engel017.gif]

Just be gentle with whatever manoevre you're attempting. Any harsh or sudden movement will result in breaking traction

As johnnycool said.
Everything you do do it slowly.
Ease on the throttle and the brakes especially. Release the clutch slowly.
Also change the gears sooner.
If you normally change to higher gear at 2800 rpm on snow change at 2200 to 2500 rpm.
Since yours is a diesel there is more torque on the wheels and they will spin easily in the snow if you press throttle as usual.
I can alos write you a few guidelines in Croatian if that would be easier to understand.
