Omega vs Insignia ''Top Gear'' Review
« on: 25 January 2011, 18:13:43 »

evening folks, hope youre all well.... :y :y :y

so am i right in thinking that the insignia is actually the replacement for the vectra? well, looking at it......

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.ukcardeal.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Vauxhall-Insignia-finance-offers.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.ukcardeal.co.uk/new-car-deals/vauxhall-insignia-save-up-to-4930-on-a-new-vauxhall-insignia/&usg=__uwXT_zN5hN_xf6V-FUD91Om38To=&h=316&w=493&sz=58&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=kWfekT_ikbngrM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=190&ei=chA_TbihJMfPhAex4NXhCg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimages%2Bvauxhall%2Binsignia%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26rlz%3D1R2ADFA_enGB413%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D536%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=406&oei=WhA_TeXLA4aBhQfaqtCZCg&esq=3&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=150&ty=67

although its deemed as a hatchback top gear voted it their executive salloon of the year 2008.

prices are roughly the same as the omega when that came out. but are you getting much more for your money?

i dont like the look of it. the interior does look plush though.....

however apparently the headroom in the back is poor. no trouble for the mig.

the base model will do 0-60 in 11 seconds!!! hmmmmm not a speed freak then and wont touch the mig.

and to top it off the boot aint gonna be anywhere as big.

all in all then id have the mig everytime.

discuss. :) :) :) :)

Better than a Vectra, but no Omega.

dont know what they are using for the interiors. the horrible plastic smell just wont disappear even after 15 months.

You can get the Insignia in Saloon form, the Insignia hatchback has a 530 litre capacity boot, which I believe is the same as the Omega.

Top of the Range Omega 3.2 V6 Elite has 217 BHP, 0-60 in 8 seconds (I think) and it cost £30,582

Top of the Range Insignia VXR 2.8 V6 Turbo has 325 BHP, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and it costs £32,990.

It wasn't supposed to be I don't think, the Omega never was succeeded apparently (It was in most people's minds by the Signum), just as the Senator wasn't supposedly replaced by the Omega. The Signum couldn't be a patch on the Omega with the Vectra C chassis and running gear, and interior etc etc. Although that said, I do quite like a Signum 2.8 V6 Turbo in Elite spec  :y

sorry mate, i didnt realise this had already been covered.

totally agree though. they need to pull a few more ''refinement'' strings b4 its anything like the mig.

ps that button handbrake is the most ridiculous thing in the world.... had one in a hired toyota avensis. it was in a really funny place too..... too close to the underside of the steering wheel.... so hill starts were a nightmare.... hunting around for the button whilst trying not to stall!!! gggrrrrrr

Insignia seats are rubbish as well. There seems to be the idea that everyone wants hard sports style seats these days. well not me, I love my Omega seats. :y

They do have hard seats, the VXR though has one of the best seats I've ever sat it  :y

So ...... if the Omega (B) replaced the Carlton (Omega A) & Senator (B), does that mean that the Vectra ultimately replaced the Senator  :o :o :o
