I had a 54 plate 2.0 TDCi 130 in Ghia X form.

Lovely car, very well built. It will either be a TDCi 130 (with 6 speed manual box) or a TDCi 115 (5 speed manual) - not sure about the Auto's.

Only thing to be wary of is injectors --> they are prone to fail and can cost 1k+ to repair, although now independents are starting to do the job for a lot less. I guess there are a few other faults too but not sure of them off the top of my head...

Also, they sometimes have problems starting up when they are warm. No problems when cold, but once its warmed up they won't start for toffee. Simple fix; ECU software upgrade at the dealer solves the issue (had it with mine) costs about £60.

100k tends to be the mileage when issues begin to arise (mine was on 94k when I started having issues so flogged it for a 56 reg Vectra C before it cost me).

Drive VERY well though...

Heres my old one; Ghia X, full leather, all the toys...lovely  :y

Key issues I know of:

EGR clogging (as per all diesels)
Injectors
Dual Mass Flywheel failure (as per all modern diesels although its quite spectacular on these)
And typical Ford so rattles appear as the age goes up, easy enough to keep on top of

Don't know if they were all 2.0 ltr ones .. but I know of 3 Mundanos that have all had very expensive and major Dual Mass Flywheel problems .. :(

Admittedly they were all used for towing... but the DMF appears to be made of chocolate .. :(

the first sign of failure is starter motor problems caused by the dust build up from the dmf. if its had a new starter. beware.

The injector problem can start at any time from 60,000 miles onwards.

One thing I also think these cars suffer from, IMHO, is a lot of road noise from the rear of the car - only really a problem at motorway speeds though.

I have a 54plate tdci, and its done 160k and runs with no problems, 50mpg great on motorways easy to drive around town!
Mine has been used for everything, and does a lot of towing, no dual mass issues, but she does suffer from the typical dingo rattle.......
These dingo's are nothing fancy butthe job surprisingly well......
On a 2005plate they are more rarer than a 3 series!!!

im guessing dingo=diesel. some of them suffer from a pronounced diesel knock when poorly.
