Another LPG question !
« on: 08 February 2011, 15:03:02 »

The gauge on the tank itself works the wrong way round - ie shows full when empty and vice versa. Not a huge problem, just slightly annoying. Is this an easy fix. :-/

I seem to remember looking at this with JCB and decided that as the level lights on the switch were working pretty well we'd leave it be ::)

Not just a matter of swapping two wires around then ? ;D
I will leave it then, as said it isnt really a problem, just nice to have everything right - if its reasonably possible to do so. :y

I was surprised how basic the actual gauge was, almost like a toilet ball-cock design

It can't have been fitted up side down, as the feed pickup would be as wrong well  ;D

Yes it can... It's only the gauge that's wrong, a separate item ;)

You're thinking of the whole multivalve ;)

I think that's exactly what has been done but, from memory, there was a reason why we didn't turn it the right way around (or perhaps we tried it  :-/)

Anyway... Fact is, the level lights work OK and you'd need to adjust the settings if it was swapped round/replaced so best left alone IMO :y

Perhaps we'll have a chance to look again at some point in the future Albs :y

Some gauges have increasing resistance as the level increases, and some have decreasing resistance as the level increases. Sounds like the ECU is configured for the wrong type of gauge sender to me.

If that's a Stag system (have a feeling it is for some reason) it's just a matter of swapping a parameter in the configuration software.

If not, you need the software and lead, etc... ::)

Kevin

EDIT: Just re-read and it sounds like someone has fitted it upside down then used the software to compensate. ::)

Probably better to let sleeping dogs lie.

<sound of alarm bells> ::)

It runs OK but... :-X :-X :-X

It's safe now, since I replaced the leaking injector pipes :-X :-X

I'm amazed at how well it runs on LPG TBH as the reducer is right on its limits ::) And the injectors are quite noisy, but all safe and does run well :y :y

Still a little untidy mind ::) ::)

D'oh, of course I remember it just being one whole unit and the "ball-cock" tip valve for filling was part of it. With the pickup, it could only go one way (well if you wanted to use 95% of the fuel  ;D)

Not quite as untidy as it was, but still needs a good sort out.
I moved the ECU from its home - jammed between the coolant tank and the air filter, which allowed the air filter to go back onto its mountings. It now sits under the airbox on the chassis rail, and fairly close to the fanimold, which probably isnt the best place for it. ::)
As for the plumbing............................ :-X, It does seem to run ok though, although it rarely goes over 3k revs anyway.

3000 RPM on a V6 is still equivalent to 4,500 RPM for a 4 pot. ;)
