Chris Harris reveals Ferrari's dirty tactics.
« on: 16 February 2011, 00:19:55 »

Chris Harris is a journalist for evo magazine and one of the best in the business (my personal favourite).  Check out some of his video reviews if you can.

Anyway this article hosted at jalopnik makes very interesting reading of Ferrari's conduct:

Fair play to Chris Harris, seems like this has been going on for a while!

Suppose I shouldn't be too surprised given Ferrari's F1 antics.  :P

A very interesting read, but not a big surprise tbh. I used to be a lover of all things ferrari, but imo when Enzo died the soul and passion of the name died with him.
The cars used to be exquisite and classy, now they are tacky and vulgar imo.It is just a brand now - albeit a very expensive brand - and it is run by philistines and accountants. :(

Does not suprise me either, watching F1 the brown stuff was flowing out the pit garage door for years. Never went near thier stand at Goodwood due to the smell.

personally as a car magazine reader, I've read lots of bullshit from car testers and magazines about those expensive toys.. some were true really and some were really one sided and honestly I have seen in many cases some really good cars are  taken down because the testers were not even close to being objective.. why .. for several reasons.. which I dont bother to mention.. :(

so, its normal for a producer firm to protect their product which sells image at very high costs..

a ferrari is a ferrari .. nothing is even close ;D :D

most of those european magazines are printed here also.. its interesting to see one says good the other says bad for the same (different countries magazines by the way)..  even in tire tests they do everything to make their tires climb to top of the list..

imo its better to tar them all as a whole bunch of capitalist advertisers instead of trying to distinguish which tells the truth ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D

in fact all those magazines live with ads and have rich factory groups behind them.. rant over..

Yeah I'm well aware that exists and is nothing new, particularly with tyre tests and Continental of late..

But you have to admit the revelations with regards to Ferrari really do take the biscuit!

I stopped buying car mags years ago after Phil Llewellin died.  His articles were a joy to read and sometimes incredibly moving.  His tales of trips to Northern France in a poppy red XJ-S, and his article about taking a Bentley Turbo R round old WW2 airfields remain incredible pieces.

Other superb writers such as LJKS, Bishop, Barker and Bulgin are sadly missed.  It's shame no-one has ever really tried to reach their standards; it would make folk like me or Cem enjoy their missives and maybe believe them a little bit too.
