Webby, the bumper only takes a few minutes to remove & would have made life a LOT simpler! Unfortunately, now you've damaged the end profile & it's unlikely you will get it back the way it was   In future mate, always remove any trim etc in the 'danger zone' . As said already, not being critical, just trying to help

thanks mate  :y

tbh i had a look at it at all angles after i finished sanding and compared it to the passenger side bumper (only by eye of course) and to my eye the shape or profile looks ok to me.

ill post some pics of it in daylight from all angles to see what i mean if youd like?

thanks for all your advice though guys ;) im very much still learning about all things cars  ;D ;D ;D

lol of course not mate, any advice is always welcome ;)

when you say the  masking tape is to close, do you mean that i should have put the concentration of the paint on the affected area and ''blended'' it by lightly dusting the surrounding area with spray?  :) :) :) :)

Basically yes then all you've got to "remove" is a light dusting of "dry" overspray - easily done with cutting compound.

You can see the change/loss of profile on the bumper in your last 3 pics - it is very obvious.  Would be quite difficult to get back now - you would need to build back up with filler, and carefully sand back using a sanding block & wet 'n dry.

HTH

I would go over your repair using wet and dry and a sanding block until you remove all sight of the filler and the paint edge is feathered in properly, then repaint.  But thats just my opinion, although I have had a lot of experience of respraying cars using a gun/compressor and local repairs using rattle cans.

However good a sprayer you are, the final finish is only as good as the preparation.

Having seen the pics of your motor in the gallery, it would be a shame to spoil it with a poor repair.  Believe me mate as it is it will stand out like a sore thumb  ;)
