Thanks guys for the circuit diagrams very handy indeed, and in English too :y.just checked with my neighbour, postie came at 9.00 this morning so no nozzle. Phoned for Teilo spoke to reception, now waiting for a call back as he may have sent it by other means. If I don't get one by tomorrow AM it's reassembly time as I need miggy for our weekly trip to my disabled sister at Flamboro 70mls away. With hindsight might be a good idea to include a couple of spares in the future kits for as Kevin say's, easily done there a delicate item :y

Sender pack has a small 3 core. Not unwrapped the main loom, but found the 2 cables that should go to tank/sender - just need to check if they are long enough, else I need to get some

It should be plenty long enough ;) ISTR I cut a chunk out of mine :y

I'll have a poke about in my toolbox later... I might have some :y

Thanks Lazytinker never occurred to me you would have one, any way it's too late for you to worry if Teilo's don't arrive in time, what I'll do is leave the one absent at the front, and then replace it with the plenum only off.I don't know how many Teilo's sent but what's left I'll post to you no doubt you will be able to keep in reserve :y

Hypothetical question.

Is 3 core mains cable OK for this?

Not really (you cowboy!)... But 3 core Automotive cable would be ;)

It would do the job but not my choice... Not as flexible for a start ::)

Well it looked like mains cable and had the correct colours.

Don't think I have any of the bits left though.

I use seperate cables in the cills.

I think the cable was under car.

Nowhere near long enough, not by a country mile. Shame, as it means there has to be a join in the loom now.

Looking at wiring, looks to be 5 core?  Lazytinker, do you know length required? Guessing 5m should be more than enough - 4m may be too short by time its gone down through wheelarch, along car, back up vent pipe, then into tank airbox?

I'd plump for 5m. Is there some wire bunched up in one of the boxes of spares I gave you? I'm sure I saw some somewhere this weekend :-/ :-/

Depends what sender you get... Might only need 4 core ;) ;)

May as well get a 10m + roll as your boyfriend Chris will want some soon too ;)

Hang on... Just read it all again... You've got some for the sender pack? That's obviously what I saw ::)

So you only need twin core to run to the solenoid then :y

Yes, just found some 2 core in your box. The guage came with about 5m of small 3 core.

I might still get 5m of 5 core from Teilo, so only one cable to run/attach down chassis. Assuming it complies with COP11 to use a single 5 core rather than a 2 core plus a 3 core?

Don't see why not, and it's probably a smaller cross section running up the vent tube than 2 separate cables :-/

But surely you could get the cable cheaper from somewhere else?

One of the 5 cores is +5v to the level sensor which is not required with most sensors.

The return from the tank valve is just ground so it can be taken to the chassis under the tank with a short section of wire rather than routed to the front end (there is a school of thought that you should ground the tank anyway).

In fact the gauge return is also just grounded so you could get away with 2 wires. The gauge accuracy might suffer a little through sharing a ground but it's hardly a precision instrument in the first place.

I think I considered that when I did mine but decided to run 2x twin core cables front to back so all the grounds went through the ECU pins designated for accuracy :-/

I have seen mains cable used - and I think it was routed underneath.

This one isn't
